any1 else come across this problem? im gonna start using filtered water but for the time beeing any1 have any safe ways of getting the marks off my plants and cage?? suggestions would be appreciated

I'm guessing you have a glass terrarium?

I'd just wash them thoroughly with soap and rinse very well. Then I'd just use RO water.. you can get an RO water system on ebay

Ahh, that's a different story.. Unless you have reaally badly filtered water, idk how you can get water marks on the plants. Do you free range crickets, and then mist? That can cause the calcium to fall off of the crickets and stain the plants. You can take the plants outside and just wash them with a hose.

no i cup feed them. i guess its just been a while since i have whipped every leaf and it just kind of built up and now there is no hope. i cant really scrub the leaves to much i have some sensitive tropical plants. any1 have any luck with vinegar?

yes i use vinegar and warm water works great for me, just put about a tb spoon into a cup of water, and when your done rinse untill u cant smell the vinegar.

razor blade for glass will remove everything!

haha what about for cleaning between the screen?? anything other than a tooth brush

Hard (high in calcium and other minerals) tap water will leave buildups on your leaves and the cage over time. If you buy de-mineralized water or use RO (reverse osmosis) filtered water it won't. If you plan on being in your house for a while and continuing to keep chams it may be worth installing a small RO filter on one sink and use that. RO filters will also take out lots of other stuff (hydrogen sulfide, iron, contaminants, tannins and other organics) but won't give you distilled water (distilled is very pure water but has no beneficial mineral content either). RO water also keeps humidifiers, foggers, misting systems cleaner too.

yea i think im just gonna have to start buying filtered water. its gonna be expensive!!! he gets misted like a gallon a day
