Water build up at the bottom of the cage.

I took out the reptile carpet out of the bottom of the tank because feeders would hide under it. Ever since then water would build up at the bottom of the tank. I can't use paper towels because there is to many things at the bottom of the tank that are connected to the top like vines, driftwood, and things like that. So my first Idea was eco earth but then i thought I have a mesh cage and it would fall out. My next idea was hydro balls. For My crested gecko i have a layer of hydro balls then mesh then eco earth on top. Can I use just hydro balls or should I just take a paper towel and dry it up or what. I have a 16*16*3* cage.

You'll need to create a drainage system, I think LLLreptile has a drainage tub you can get for the bottom to give you a starting point.

This is a common challenge, and why not having anything on the floor is done by hanging plantsand keeping furnishings like driftwood and branches in the top 1/2 of the cage. The other advantage to an empty floor is feeders can't hide under pots and furnishings, as well as bacterial and mold issues which can give the chameleon Upper Respiratory infections.

If you do not want to hang the plants and furnishings I would recommend using paper towels to wipe around them. If you are hand misting or using an automatic watering/dripping system, you want the cage to dry out between mistings, and reptile carpet or soils will be a haven for bacteria and mold.

CHEERS!
