I have seen that my cham definately and clearly prefers outdoor daylight,
He is far more naturally behaving, alert and active than when he's is in his cage.
To this end I have added a virtually non heat producing flourescent compact light source. Its a powersaver bulb rated at 23watt =125watt output.
Im not getting all scientific and measuring luemens and stuff, but its visibly (to me) much brighter than it was with just the linear uv and incandescent bulb heat source.
A shade canopy outside the window unfortunately means less natural light.
He seems far more active, all over the cage zapping stuff, and much brighter in colors too.
How visibly bright is the lighting in your cages?
