Vermiculite or hatch right

Different strokes for different folks, I think. I use Hatchrite for my cresties and it holds moisture better than vermiculite and is easier to judge how damp it is. Hatchrite suits cresties better because it doesn't stick to the hatchlings as much and cresties shed then eat the skin pretty much as soon as they hatch.

If you use vermiculite use the very coarse ground stuff, not the potting soil version. The potting soil stuff dries out too fast due to the huge surface area.

I use both.vermiculite is much softer. It also seems to cling to the babies a little longer, like real soil.Hatchrite is sorta crunchy. They both work fine.I had to mix some a while back when a female decided to surprize me.Those eggs are due any day.As far as moisture go's. Use a scale to monitor the water loss.
