I received a 6-8 month old veiled female in March 2016 after the previous owner decided he did not want her anymore and did not have time for her. He bought her in January 2016. Not sure from where. He gave me to her in a box of feces. I have never owned a Cham before but many turtles. I've need reading tons of forums. We have a three foot tall screen cage with three different dome bulbs on top. One is a blue colored day bulb (??) one is a tube bulb (I think a UV one) and there's a much smaller tinier one that the previous owner was using for heat that he gave us. She has many posable vines and fake plants attached throughout the cage and we have a mister set up. She gets 30 second sprays every 3 hours. The water drips down two plant vines. She gets crickets powdered with repti-vite (repti-calc?) and superworms (she has been eating these more frequently due to this odd illness).
From the day we got her she has ALWAYS hissed at us. I figured that was normal. I would not hold her anyways except for when I needed to clean the cage. About 3 weeks ago she seemed fatter and she started showing blue spots, turning brown in some areas. We figured she may be gravid. We bought a small bathroom trash can and placed some washed play sand full to the top in the bucket. We placed it in the cage. She would sit in the bucket frequently but never dig. She stopped eating, snuffed at the crickets and superworms for a while but I would always see her go to the leaves to drink.
More recently she has begun to eat maybe one superworm every other day, she drinks A TON, but she is weak!!! She falls from every vine and spends most of her time at the bottom of the cage. She will try to reach out to vines that do not exist, or place her foot on top of another foot and let go and will go toppling to the bottom of the cage. She no longer hisses when I pick her up, she will eat the meal worm from my hand (one maybe every other day) but there are still maybe 2-3 crickets hopping around her cage. She sleeps frequently. When she does her nose and most of her face, feet, tail turn brown. Her white spots on her body then brown as well and she gets a pine green color all over. She also does this heavy breathing but her mouth does not open.
I read on a forum that if she had a RI she would need lots of liquids and there was something about a hot rag?? She has actually been sleeping on a wet hot rag the last few days. I can't tell if she's gravid, sick, has MBD..... PLEASE HELP!!!!
