Veiled Chameleon Baby Lighting Help!!

I am going to get a baby Veiled Chameleon from FL Chams sometime in the next two weeks.

The cage size is 16x16x30 inches tall.

For the basking and the UVB/UVA can I use the Zoo Med Mini Combo Deep Dome Lamp Fixture with the EXO TERRA REPTI-GLO 5.0 REPTILE COMPACT BULB 13W in one dome and with the Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp 75 Watt in another dome?

Is 75 watts too little or too much?

Or Should I get the Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 Compact Fluorescent FS-C5 instead of the Exo Terra One?

Are any of these too big to fit in the Mini Deep Domes which are 5 and 1/2 inches long?

Or could I put in a regular 60 watt household bulb inside of the Mini Deep Dome?

Or what about this package in each Mini Deep Dome, the ZOO MED HEAT AND UVB BASKING SPOT LAMP 100 watt AND Zoo Med 5.0 FLUORESCENT COMBO PACK

I already have a Zoo Med Infrared Heat Lamp that is red, should I not use it until he grows, or what?

Thanks Alot Guys, dominicthechameleon

If you dont have anything yet it would probably be best,to just get the complete Chameleon setup and Chameleon package it comes with pretty much everything.

Hi!, thank you for taking the time to research before your chammie comes, that always makes everyone here smile :)

First, can you return your red light? You won't ever use it, so save your money.
Stay with the 5.0 on the UV light, the 10's are a little strong for a baby if it is directly on the cage top.
Here is my 2 cents, with the compact UV, it is basically a spot light, (tight beam) so unless your Cham is directly under it he won't get the ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE lighting. Going with a linear tube 5.0 allows him to roam around his cage and still get the UV.
A 100 watt is too much, especially in the summertime. Start with a 40 and work from there.
Let me see if i can add anything go help. Mann's post tells you everything you need :)

No, I can't return it actually, its 2 months past the 2 month return date.
I'm don't think that a 5.0 linear bulb will fit on top of a 16 inch wide and 16 inch long and 30 inch tall screen cage. It would be hanging of 7 inches on each side I think. Tell me if i'm wrong

No i have a linear one on my females cage thats the same size i just put it corner to corner.

Psychobunny and everyone else has you covered here. I will just add in for the florescent light, if you have an old 10 gallon aquarium laying around that has a florescent fixture, you can use that and just put the reptisun in that. Save you $25. Or check goodwill. If you need a new starter for it they cost like $5 at petco, so long as the ballast is good you are golden my friend!

Now, I will also add from my recent experience of doing a first setup for a veiled chameleon, be very careful not to put the basking lamp too close to the fixture. If you do you run the risk of giving you animal a nasty thermal burn. I learned this the hard way- misread some suggestions somewhere and bam, woke up one morning wondering where this nasty black spot on my chams back came from... That fixture that psych showed you should be fine as it has a clip, the thing here is just make sure you have some air space between the lamp and the cage. Before you even bring the lizard home, sey everything up. Run the light for like 30 minutes so it warms up and place your hand above the basking spot. It should feel warm not hot. If you feel the need to remove your hand it is probably a bit too hot and you are going yo cook your cham like I did.

Thanks Anne

I am going to probably get a Zoo Med Mini Deep Dome Clamp Lamp Fixture With a 5.5 inch dome and put a Zoo Med Daylight Blue Reptile Bulb 40 Watt Heat Lamp. Does that sound good for the heating part? Do you know of a lower priced linear florescent bulb and a hood for it?
