Veiled Cham keeps left eye closed

I just bought my first chameleon a few weeks ago. He seemed to be doing great up until a few days ago. He is keeping his left eye closed most of the day. He only opens it every now and again but then closes it right back up. He is not acting different in any other way. I have read that putting saline solution in it may help. Any thooughts?

I have a year old male veiled chameleon. I have had him for about 2 weeks. Lately I have been handling him everyday because I have been dripping water into his mouth. I feed him 15 crickets every two days( they are gut-loaded). I use a humidifier and keep it on high during the day and low during the night. The fogger drips water onto a fake plant. But I have thought he was a little dehydrated lately so I have been dripping water into his mouth. He has a 3 ft screen cage. Fake plants only. I live in Michigan.

What specific lights do you use? Linear tube or other?

I would suggest investing in an automated mister. Also you don't need to mist at night. It's good to let the cage dry out in between mistings and overnight. Get some real plants as they hold humidity better. Read the care sheets for veilds as they are extremely helpful for successful chameleon care. Good luck.
