I am hopefull that my cham is going to lay her eggs ver very soon.

Just wanted to no if this incubation method sounds ok.

Got a polystiren box with heat mat in side and thermostat.

Got 3 disused cricket boxes half full with moist vermiculite, placed them on top of 3 more upturned cricket boxes so there not directly touching the heat mat.

Another cricket box with just water in it on top of the heat mat.

Was told to keep temp at around 80, is this right?

and should I leave the lids on top of the tubs when the eggs are in there or leave them open?

first of all 3 cricket tubs may not be enough for 50-60 eggs, your better off getting 1 big box(i use the ones from b&q)
im incubating my eggs at 75-76f & i have the lids on my boxes with a few air holes around the sides

hope this helps

yes it does, alot. thanks, I was thinking of using a few ice cream containers, does that sound like a good idea?

a big tuppaware box would be fine,a clear one.i like to see into the box because it saves you taking the lid off to see the eggs & losing moisture

Here are pics of my adults eggs laid on April 1 2009.

I put lids on them with holes around the edges (pin holes)

Wow, thats alot of eggs, approx 70 there!

do you keep them off the floor of your incubater? im wondering if its better to keep them on top of the up turned cricket tubs or to just play them directly on top of the heat mat.
