Veiled babies?

Hey everyone got a question for you. I have a clutch of veiled eggs that hatched 2 days ago. 80% have not opened thier eyes yet. 5 of them came out prolapse. I know the enviroment is fine, because all of my other clutches of babies are doing fine. Is this just a bad clutch? maybe premature?

It's so hard to say without being there to see them first-hand.

Sometimes the majority of the clutch will have problems that are related to something genetic, conditions during incubation, premature hatching, ect...

There is a tendancy to want to believe that the problems are out of your control and it's not your fault that they aren't doing well, but you need to make 100 percent sure that there is nothing you can do before you give up to "fate" and convince yourself that it's beyond your influence.

Did they possibly hatch out a few days before you noticed them? If they were sitting there in the incubator for a few days before you saw them it might have messed them up...

Born with rectal prolapse??? Not to sound gross, but i'm interested in seeing pics of that. Not to insult you, but you're positive you weren't looking at retained egg yolk and such? Didn't think so...

If you're comfortable showing pics of the inclosure you're keeping them in it would eliminate my concerns that they are not being housed properly. The only reason i say this is because 80% is a very high number. I'd expect what you've described to afflict 10% or less of any given clutch. In my experience (including veileds) most babies that are strong enough to leave the egg will survive and do well if cared for properly.

I feel for you and I hope the situation improves.

Hey this is not my first rodeo. This is something that is out of my hands for sure. I hatch out/have drop alot of chameleons here. Saw them the day they hatched. I check my eggs often. prolapse for sure no yolk. They are comming out of the egg like this. This is not something where one day it happend. I just have never seen anything like that. I had a clutch of panther eggs hatch out 4 days before them and they all doing fine. They are housed properly not worried about that at all. Thanks for your input Tim
