UVB mounted inside enclosure

I am building a new enclosure and I had the thought of mounting the UVB inside the enclosure. I am not sure if this is a bad idea. Probably the more i think about it.

My main questions were does the bulb get hot enough to hurt the cham if he/she gets a hold of it?

Is it really gonna give me much of a difference as apposed to being outside the enclosure? I mean a difference in a way of the screen blocking most of the rays.

My main thought is that if he does get a hold of it does he have strong enough man hands to blow the bulb?

Any answers apreciated. thanks!

It would most likely get too hot. Most UVBs are very lot wattage, but still produce a surprising amount of heat. I tried touching my UVB the other day after turning it off, thinking it would be cool enough but I was wrong.

It just is not safe, unless the UVB is completely out of reach of the chameleon. I even advise you to either a) keep it out of the cage or b) build a screen dome around it so the chameleon cannot grab it.

The bulb is not hot enough to hurt him.

His man hands can't break it.

He will get a larger hit of benificial rays.

Electricity and water are a bad mix.....
