Hello guys I was just wondering if my UVB light is enough or do I need a basking light as well? The temp stays around max 82 with just the uvb so I was wondering if a basking light would be too much, or does he need it. THANKS!

I have a basking light and a uvb. However, during the summertime, I dont use his basking light much, because with the room temp and his uvb bulb, it keeps his temps in the right range. I would suggest determining what your temps should be for the type of cham you have, then determine waht your temps are. if thye are too low, get a basking bulb, if they are too high, move your uvb bulb farther away from his cage.

what are the daytime, and nighttime temps..your cham needs to be able to cool down or heat up on its own free will..somtimes you may need to put their enclosure in a cooler room so you can give them an ambient temp of 75 in the cage, 85 (88 is supposed to be the magic number for basking) for the basking point..and a drop to about 70 at night (mine drop to 68 or so at night)...

I have a graceful cham. He's about two months old and in a smaller mesh cage for his size. The humidity level stays above 55 and the temp during the day is 85 max with a small basking light.of 45 watts and the uvb of 25 watts. I leave those on for 12 hrs and no lights at night. The temp at night gets around 68 - 70 I'm now seeing that gracefuls prefer lower temperatures. Is this true? I just want the ideal environment. Help me get there thanks! Also is the humidity level ok for this species?
