UV lighting location personal advice

Hi there I just finish my 6'x2x3 cage. I was wondering of 2 48 inch 5.0 uv light enough or to muh ? They would be place on the side ? Or should I get smaller ones and put them on top? Thank you

I would almost always suggest lighting from the top. Chams will spend much of their time up high, and the lighting would not be as effective. You may want to use a multiple T5 unit (due to the height of the cage) and I would suggest 2 different basking zones of different temps if you have the room. Having a wooden viv my t5 48 inch is inside on back wall. It has a reflector so Popeye can't climb on it.

As other said, you want them sorta on top, so all the heat and light is on top, so the cham can regulate on his own. If you place them on the center of the side then the cham has to regulate uv side to side, and heat up and down. You can still put them at 45 degree angles at the top or sides.

Please avoid putting on the sides where the rays "shoot" directly into open Cham eyes.

How would you like being a a room where all the bare
flo. tubes are situated on the walls around the room at eye level??

I see your point but the back wall of my viv is the only place for my uv tube. I have the viv heavily planted with foliage so light breaks through in just a few areas and Cham has plenty of places in viv to get away from light. With the way I have the reflector light is shining downward also it runs diagonally.

Yeah I was thinking it might hurt his eyes ! Just making sure ! Thanks guys I bought 36" 5.0 tube for the top of his cage it should do the trick ill keep a eye to make sure he has everything he needs and in Heath ! Thanks again guys

Iv now gone from a 3' wide cage to a 2' wide cage nd was hoping to use the 3' tube but going down the centre?? Is this not a good idea?? It's a 5.0 tube nd I have a 8/9 month panther
