I live in Houston,Tx and as many no we just sent through a hurricane. I was out of power for a little more than two days. I used the ups from my server and it ran 3 lights and 2 heat pads for almost 2 whole 12 hour periods. Just wondering what other people do in this instance, I know alot of people live in Florida and this is a little more common issue.

Thanks for the input,

...I just let them deal with it like I do.

seriously, I've had only one instance where my chameleons had to go without power for more than a few days (like two weeks when hurricane Fran hit us). I just let them be. The temps were warm enough they were not in danger.

Unless they're in a basement in winter, there's not much to worry about.

I live in IL we do not have hurricanes. But we have Ice storms. I was out of power for 3 weeks. I have a generator. And I had to sleep in the basement with the chams as my generator is only large enought to run my basement. Not so much fun.

Power Outages are rare here, but, I also have a couple UPSs and can use them for UVB lights if necessary. I also have wind-up LED Lanterns, sunlight from windows, and a wood burning fireplace that will keep the top half of the house semi-warm. I was thinking about getting a small generator, in case of a major earth quake. But I am also trying to pretend such an event isnt going to happen. LOL

for katrina we bought 45 gallons of gas, and we ran at 3 hr intervals w/o 2 hours between and it lasted 2 weeks. we only powered a few light and one window unit though
