So i have one that has been getting into bad shaped, and i had cut all the rotten bad branches off the plant , & after a few days been left outside the cage , i re cut w.e was left and sprayed some water on it. Now it's day 3 back in the cage and i noticed a bunch of fly's all around my cage and when i looked closer i saw a lot of them in the bottom of the plant around where the soil is by the way i noticed this problem before and i changed the organic soil to eco eart i though this would have help but i guess not, has anyone had this problem before? my only problem with fake plants it's that my female vield loves to eat them
I'm also worry that all this fly's would affect my chameleon, its not like she eats them. in fact they probably are too small for her to see them

Also they guys in homedepot said they had an organic sprayer that wouldn't hurt my chameleon , but would deff kill any unwanted bugs to prevent this from happening . I just didnt trust to put that anywhere around my cages and chameleon

please help

sounds like you need to changed the soil and maybe re pot them in a new pot container , i would deff ask one of the seneiors menbers in the forum about this organic stuff.

wish u best of luck! :D

Hi I have had issues with other plants and I use soapy water to water plants, the dish soap kills the bugs ,but you have to do it more then once ,just watch and make sure the cham, dont go in the dirt til it absorbs, can even spray soapy water on bugs ,make it a little strong with soap ,tablespoon per qt,hope this helps.

okay so probly what your seeing is Gnats which live in the soil and fly around your plant chowing down, change the soil hopefully that will make it so you dont have a colony of gnats in your soil eating up your roots

Oh man! :( Gnats!!? sounds bad, i do have this thing i do for spider mites and its i used rose marry oil mix with dish soup and its 100% organic could this maybe help?! i rely don't want to through away the eco eart soil its so expensive now in days, but do you guys think that would help? either way am going to deff try the whole soup thing, what about to keep them alive? is there a better way to keep my plant nice and strong?!

by the way thanks for your opinion much appreciated !

do you have other potted plants in there, they could be in those also. gnats are harmless to you but will wreak havoc on your plants maybe even bother your cham

no its just one plant that was huge and leafy now that i had to cut it down its slim but no other plants in the cage aside from that plant i have a ficus in my other cage and the plant is doing better than this one and that exactly what am worry about, i have a gravid female and i don't want nothing happening to her

what about the organic sprayer that they sell in homedepot ? you think that gunna kill my cham?

even organic poison can still be poisonous, what i did when my sink got infested was i got a jar, like a jelly jar and i put some vinegar in it the poked small holes in the top so they crawl in but their 2 dumb to get out, another way would be put a dish out of olive oil (but since its in your cage you dont want your cham walking in this oil or drinking it)
no substrate right they also could live in that
Edit: also you can Include a tablespoon of liquid dish washing soap with water. Before watering the house plants.

Gnats is a general term for pests that live in your plants or w.e

well substrate as in flooring of your cage, like a layer of eco earth on the ground. organic soil <---- if you mean you took it from outside or a place where bugs could get at then it is possible. eco earth compressed bricks are bug free, while the bugs could colonized your plant or substrate in numerous ways. it isnt your fault, just bad luck.
