Hello everyone! I am new to the forums and had a question. I just got a new baby veiled chameleon (not sure how old..) and he eats and Im pretty sure he drinks but I just never see it. But its been a few times now that I have seen him start to puff up and gap his mouth and hiss and kind of wiggle like he is mad at something... but I don't quite know why. He doesnt do it when Im watching at a closer distance either. I was just sitting on my bed watching him and he started to do it on one of his branches . It is very random.. Can anyone tell me if they have seen this before or help me figure out the cause? Thanks.

EXTRA: check him out eating a cricket!

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male veiled chameleon I am not sure how old (maybe someone can watch my video and tell me) and I have had him for about a week now..
Handling - handled him to put him in the cage and once after just to see how he liked natural sunlight
Feeding - feeding pinhead to 1/4 crickets. I put about 10 in each day and only see him eat after I leave and come back. the crickets eat ground cat food with carrots
Supplements - have dusted every day with repcal w/o d3 and going to dust with d3 every two weeks as well as reptivite w/o d3 once a month
Watering - mist the cage 3-4 times a day with a hand sprayer and do it until almost all of the leaves are dripping wet. I have never seen him drink. He always runs away and hides from the water
Fecal Description -brown and white
History - got him from LLLReptile

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 24x24x36 screen cage from LLLReptile
Lighting - Reptisun 5.0 and a 60 watt DayGlo bulb
Temperature -lowest temp at night is around 65-70 and during the day the cage ranges from 75-90
Humidity - its average 60-70. stay humid from spraying it down and using a cup dripped
Plants - i have a live ficus
Placement - It is located in my room which has a ceiling fan which I keep on low just to keep air circulating in my room. the top of the cage is about 7ft off the ground
Location - I live in San Diego

Current Problem - You can read the first post, but he freaks out randomly. Puffs up and gaps his mouth and wiggles around. any advice would be great. thank youu

Oh and his name is Pascal..yea..like the chameleon from Tangled.. I couldnt resist.

Every thing looks good for the most part. Except I would like to suggest doing a better gutload than cat food and carrots. Use fresh fruits and veggies. Such as orange, mustard and collard greens. Apples, carrots, high quilty dry gutload. And the list goes on and on.
But I dont think that has anything to do with your problem. I just wanted to give you a tip.
As I said before, Maybe something spooked him. And from what I saw in the video, he is very young. So maybe he is just trying to seem big and scary to protect him self. Just keep a eye on it. And see if it gets worse or more often.

Someone eles may chim in and give you a better answer.
