Does anyone know if Uganda is still exporting? I haven't seen any Ugandan species come in for a while...

There is one species in particular I am looking to get a large group together of, just waiting for availability.

Their is just one company who has a license to export for the moment in Uganda.
We put a big order for the EU market but the government seems to be very slow in writing export cites
If the animals arrive in Germany its very easy to ask a re export permit for sending the xeno's to the US.
But like always dealing with Africans takes a loth of time....

Okay,i just got news that we received the Uganda quotas for 2013!
That means that i can send 10.10(ten pairs) of johnstonii,10.10(ten pairs) of kinyongia xenorhina and 10.10 (ten pairs) of hoehnelli altaeelgonis to the US
Please contact Paul Fowler for all the details.

We just received some good but also sad news from the Uganda Wildlife Authorities UWA.
The good news is that we will receive the shipment and you Guys also by Paul.
Bad news is that the gave just one export permit for this year and they made the decision to not longer export WC chameleons after this one.
So if you want to work with these species its our last chance:(

I am just curious, what do you guys who deal more directly with importing think about this; is it to protect the species or is it political? Why aren't there business in these countries that captive breed and export chameleons?

Btw, I am Paul Fowler for those of you that dont know. So please contact me about this import ASAP, all of the johnstoni are almost gone. I am sure all 3 species will sell out tho now that this news has hit.

Its a shame, it kind of upsets me in a way. But its for the better. Its likely a bit of both political and conservation. But, illegal smuggling of chameleons from Uganda will likely rise as a result of it.

The only location these species come from there is a chameleon farm. They are bred there and sent out. Or were, now I guess.....

Thanks for that update Jurgen.

Does this mean that the farms will stop? Or will they continue but release them to the wild?

Its a political decision, several conservation groups were putting pressure on the government for a total ban,it seems that they won the fight...
