So I hear using window screening can cause our Chameleons to get nails stuck.

So I use mesh at about 1/2'' he can easily fit his feet through. Yet I can't free range anything as they can all get out.

So my question is, as I'm upgrading to a pretty large cage, what do you recommend?

You could cup feed your feeders and still use the 1/2 inch or line the inside of your screen cage with the plastic fencing.
