I have a two year old veiled chameleon named Oscar and lately, he hasn't been acting himself. Normally, he hangs out towards the front of the cage and doesn't hesitate to come out and sit on my shoulder or my head and he normally eats about 10 large crickets at a time. Lately, however, he hangs out more towards the back of his cage and i've even caught him sleeping on the floor of his cage a few times, which is something ive never seen him do before. Also, he wont eat as much anymore, favoring small meal worms over large worms or crickets. I also noticed that he's shedding a lot more than normal and he wont come near me anymore, hissing and expanding at times.
I don't know if this is his normal winter behavior or not, he's only been in my actual care for the past seven months. He used to belong to my best friend, but unfortunately he passed away, and my friend had purposely taught me how to care for Oscar incase anything happened and he was unable to care for him anymore. I'm a little overprotective of Oscar for this sole reason so I don't know if I'm freaking out for nothing, but if anyone has any answers for me, I'd really appreciate it.
