Blue bottle fly spikes, people on here use blue bottle flies? You guys want to go in on a discount group buy? I am trying to round people up from the mantidforum too. Grub co. buys from these guys who were on dirty jobs so I think its a safe bet to buy in bulk!

Ok...I know this is a really stupid question...but how do you keep flys in your cham cage and not flying around in your house cause they have wings????

there shouldn't be any openings in ur cham cage unless you use really wide screening, but still, there should be the fine holed screening outside of the wider holed screening...

anyways, blue bottle flies are extremely easy to keep a live. they live for up to a month, and once you recieve them, let them all hatch, dont store any in the fridge as pupae, instead hatch them out.

place all the pupae in a 32 oz deli cup or something similar. put 100-150 puape in each cup, with a water bottle container lid or something small and shallow so you could put there food in it.

a mixture of sugar and bee pollen is good. you could also just use a shallow dish of honey mixed with wood chips or apsen shavings.

let them eat in the container for a couple days, then stick them in the fridge. they'll chill out and you can keep them in the fridge for 2 weeks! take them out and they'll come back to full moving life within minutes.

when you want to feed them off, stick them in the freezer for 2.5-3 minutes, and take them out and they'll be knocked out, toss em in the cham cage, and they'll come back to moving and buzzing within a minute or two. these are nice little feeders.

Id be interested! My uthmo always enjoys a good fly meal. Ill e-mail you for details. And i do use the freezer method for feeding off flies as well, I recommend keeping the flies in small groups so you can just throw them all in the cage at once instead of having to fuss with flies escaping etc.

not yet, i am thinking of just purchasing a bunch when i get enough money from my own pocket and selling them a lot cheaper than the leading competitors.

i'll let you guys know a head of time so you'll buy from me instead of whoever else so i won't get stuck with a bucket of larvae waiting to pupate! LOL
