Too much heat or too cold...

Just a random question I have been thinking about. What is better, being a little too hot or a little too cold? This question is just out of curiosity.

Neither is good, why? Too cold and digestion cannot happen and too hot promotes dehydration... both will cause death. You can create a stable environment fairly easy even if your house is too hot or too cold.

I was just wondering. I think it is fascinating that these animals are so sensitive.

It's not that chams are unusually sensitive, but that they are finely adapted to the conditions in their wild range and the typical captive cage in a human house isn't the same. We take them out of their normal habitat with its range of conditions and they can only adapt so far. The same would be true for almost any other herp...a bearded dragon, leopard gecko, native alligator lizard kept in the wrong temp regime would seem just as sensitive.

It is really a matter of understanding what they have evolved to handle, not that they are unusually delicate.
