Is it normal for a yemen to have a kinda purple head?
And what age would you say he is?

I would say he is about 6-7 months old by now. Nice amount of color he is showing. Normally they don't show color till 5-7 months.

His head looks like he's about to shed.

Yeah, I would say 6-7 months old too. I have one just a little younger.
