Tokay Update

The tokay is doing a lot better. Had the chance to take some pictures when I brought him to a friend's house. He isn't so black and dark anymore.

"Taming" Tokays.. $50 a Tokay or trade for thick gardening gloves.. LOL.

You should have seen him when I first got him. I'm trying to bulk him up the best I can, but we don't have much variety in feeders around here.

The third photo of him is excellent. Do you not have wax worms there? They are the best for fattening up lizards. Anyway, I hope he continues to do well bless him.

We have waxies but they are expensive and I try not to offer them for more than a treat.

Health wise he is looking much better, not that he looked too bad to begin with. I would like to see a little more weight on him but as I know you are feeding him properly I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as he continues to eat and look healthy.

Suppose I shall take the advice on fattening him up - I just believe fattening doesn't equal healthy.

Petsmart waxworms, 25 for $4.. Any suggestions for waxworms online around here for under $10?

You are right, generally not, no, but in this case, the sooner you get some condition on him the better. In his current condition, all nutrition will be utilised in regaining lost weight/condition, rather than 'become fat', this is what your aiming for.
Once he gains condition, and normal weight, then excess food will begin to 'fatten him' and you can adjust his diet.
