Toe Clipping?

My female chams claws are getting to the point where when she grabs my fingers, she leaves scratches and sometimes even draws blood lately! Is there any reason not to lightly trim the very sharp tip off of her claws?

It is not recommend to trim the nails. I have always heard that they will not grow back. One think I have noticed in my females is their nails will start growning and get very long right before they lay eggs. The long nails will help them with their digging during egg laying.

Ahh ok, well this does make sense, then. My males are not nearly as sharp. Thank you for your input!

Thank you! She is awesome, she decided to run up the futon. She is just about a year old now, named Cami Chameleon. I'm hoping she passes some colors on to her babies, I really love how blue/green she gets!

She's gorgeous. I had a pretty little blue angel named Camille for 3 1/2 years that just passed away last month. I miss her so much.

My first female wore her nails down to stumps when she was digging to lay her eggs. They were never the same afterwards and the points didn't reform either which meant she had trouble gripping when climbing after that. If one of their nails gets ripped or torn out of the nail bed then they don't grow back sadly. Best to leave them well alone as they need their nails!

Jannb, I just saw your panthers, and they are amazing! I eventually want to have one in my collection, and your pictures make me want one even more :) Stunning! And I'm sorry to hear about your little Camille, they really are wonderful pets that are easy to love.

And I will leave them be, she is nearing her first clutch of eggs (within the next 2 weeks), and so this makes complete sense as to why they would get sharper than ever! Thank you both for your information, something I just never really thought about!
