time of the sun VS how much sun

I had a ? on how much sun they need VS the time of day they get the sun - I have some outdoor f/r that get morning/evening sun, but only about 3 hrs in the morning, and 2 in the evening, and another that can get full late afternoon to evening sun - what one would be better - they both get about 5/6 hrs sun, but just at different times ~ thanks

I would pick the site that gets morning sun. The chams will want to bask to warm up for the day. Then they are more likely to soak up their UV, hunt, patrol, drink, and digest their meals. The afternoons would tend to be hotter and many species would retire to part shade then anyway.

Mine all get morning (7am-10am) full sun and late evening (5pm-7pm) somewhat full sun. The cages are set off to where it is full shade from 11am-4(5)pm, as to prevent overheating. Townhouses with fences and sheds have some benefits i guess. However, i would KILL for dez' yard for my kid and chams. I also made little square tops with landscaping weed mesh, to protect from hail and when the sun wants to act out of alignment. I just set it on top of the cage and it protects with shade and a barrier from hail. Only had to use for storms so far, but a nice precaution if needed. I also use it at night, just in case possums or cats were to come thru.
