Thinking of selling for translucent veiled? yes no?

I am thinking about selling my 5 month old possible female veiled or trade for a baby translucent veiled. Im pretty sure shes a she because the dont have the thing on her back foot like my male turquoise/sunburst veiled. anyone know anyone who would trade me? or should I keep her?

It depends on what you want. I doubt anyone will trade a translucent for a normal though, unless you payed the difference of course. High end translucents run for about $200 while a normal baby runs for $30-$50.

I kind of figured no one would trade for a even trade
I wouldnt mind paying the difference. I just noticed how neat those guys are and I really want one, but I would have to find a new home for my female because I have no more room for any extras

I haven't really heard of chameleon "trades" before, nor do I know how that would work out.

My question is why do you want to trade? your "plain" veiled costs less than a high quality translucent, which means you would probably have to put money on top or settle for a low quality translucent. With a low quality one, I doubt it would be worth the headache of shipping your animal, receiving the new one - and then dealing with any problems that arise on either parties side. Paying to ship your animal and paying to have one shipped to you would probably be worth your chameleon alone. Considering that most carriers charge at least $40.00 dollars for overnight shipping. Standard shipping is never an option for a live animal.

If you really want a translucent, why not just buy a second chameleon? each one is different and wonderful in his/her own way. If this sounds like a good idea, then you should check out FL Chams - they have some really really nice high quality ones.

There are lots of tranny veileds out there They have decreased in price drastically since they have been offered to the "public". As Chris A. stated, this goes to show how prolific a veiled chameleon really is. I really do not think there is anything wrong with owning a chameleon and wanting to trade or sell to experience a new species or morph. One only has so much room and how do you know which candy you like unless you taste it? The only thing is to know that what you are trading or selling to buy has been in the best care possible for the species.

I think if you breed one low translucent with a normal you get 50% low trandlucent and 50% normal babies. if you breed two low translucents you get like 50% low translucent 25% normal and 25% high translucent. umm.. one high translucent and one normal then you get 100% low tanslucent. one high trans and one low you get half low and half high babies and obviousley two high trans you get 100% high trans

I stared at that one for a good 10 mins... such an awesome creature.

Im not sure what some people see in it, for me the translucent veileds are sort of just a "meh". But that one took my breathe.

Back on topic, if you are planning to breed the translucent trait, and plan to profit from it - well your a bit late friend.

The market value for these chameleons has decreased drastically since last year. A high end translucent used to be able to run in the hundreds range, costing more than some excellent quality panthers. Now they are lucky if they go for more than 200. You would also have some serious competition from more reputable breeders - Fl Chams being one of the leaders in translucent s at the moment and a good case in point. (just my humble opinion of course).

That being said, i cant personally say I know of anyone who would conduct such a trade. Unless of course ( again as an example ) the animal was purchased from Fl chams and you are asking to exchange it for a high end translucent, which may or may not fly depending on their policy.

I wish you best of luck though, we can only offer our opinions and advice - the rest if up to you.
