In the city i live in south of Tampa Fl there is a pretty reputiple reptile shop / venom lab. They have all kinds of reptiles and they always have a Cham or two of different verities. They also have a ton of experienced staff. I go there all the time and know the owners pretty well they are good people. Any the other day i went in and they had just gotten in two male Jackson's Xan's. I already own one, but they had both of these males in the same cage. One was bright green, and the other very very dark. I felt so bad for the poor little stressed out guy that i had to buy him! Am I alone in ever doing this and having that much love for chameleons. p.s. I'm a new member to the forum here and love what you guys have going on.

chameleon's i care for
A male and female veiled
And now 2 male Jackson's :)

Yep more than once I've taken something in something furry, scaly, or feathered to save it because of someone else's idiocy

Its always hard to pass these little guys up, but unfortunately by paying for the sick one you "encouraged" the shop to do this again. They got your money for an animal they were keeping incorrectly. Statistically, the majority of animal purchases are made out of pity. A shop displays an animal that isn't kept properly or looks sick, and kindhearted customers buy them to get them out of a bad situation. If you had explained the problem, helped them solve it in some way, or offered to take the "sick" cham for free so it would have a chance, that's the more effective action to take. If they lose stock before it sells its a hit in the wallet so they are a little less likely to do it again.

Unfortunately, somebody with great knowledge of keeping Cams is selling them to the pet stores.

I get that and totaly agree Carlton, I gave the owners a rash of shit about how he was keeping them together and explained some proper care basics and tips on how to better display them for future sale. Well it turns out I'll be spending this weekend at his shop setting him up a few new solo enclosures, and earning some free supplies at the same time. So in the end this shop will no longer be improperly caring and housing chams before they go to hopefully good homes.. :) and i got a part time job on the weekends..lol.. Oh and my new jackson is doing very well now that he is in his safe new home.. Normal bright green, as well as eating and drinking very well.. Because of his color when i picked him up i decided to name him black jack.....

I'm really a softee they would get me every time, This is how I ended up with 10 spoiled dogs, 1 cat, 1 abandoned Ball Python. But not my Cham he is here by choice sometimes I like to get away, and only if my husband stays I get to cause I don't trust no one with my babies only him cause he is an animal lover like me.
I even face time my animals when I do go away, Carlton is right but I understand
Kubelkid66 he is a softee like me.
