They can make me so happy

It took about 2 weeks, but Mort has decided he doesn't need to be terrified. It started a few days ago when I covered the cages so that the chams wouldn't be stressed by 6 hours of massive cleaning in the room. Mort cruised his cage, and when I finally peeled back the covers, he hung out and didn't try to hide again. Yesterday the mister got installed, and while I was watching to see that they weren't startled too badly when it comes on and goes off, he went down to the bottom and pushed at the cage panels, so today I propped it open he made a dash for freedom. He became Big Bad Cham, but didn't bite, got on my hand with some difficulty, then crossed to the fake ficus and hung out there for about an hour while I watched, grinning from ear to ear.

Getting him back into his cage was even easier. I put my arm between his branch and the cage, and my other hand stroked his flank to encourage him. Now he's hanging out in the cage, making no effort to hide when I come in the room. LET THE FIREWORKS AND EXALTATION COMMENCE!

Shayna also has given me some warm moments. She has been on a food strike for a while, has hung out on one branch, and in general caused me to fret over her health. She drinks readily from a hand pump dripper after a minute or two of dribbling it on her snout, but she is totally refusing crickets. The Phoenix worms came today, and she just finished 6 of them off. YAY! I'm going to raise her temp a bit higher to see if that doesn't give her more get up and go.

I think today I first felt like everything is going to be okay. Mort doesn't hate me and Shayna is not trying to die (today).

Sorry this is so disjointed, but I'm shuffling a whole bunch of reptilian thoughts today.
Would you use an antibiotic cream or ointment on cham wounds? What is in your cham emergency kit?
What are you planning to do when old-fashioned incandescent bulbs are no longer available for heat?
Is a single 6' fake ficus that he can use during the day enough of an addition to his range to make up for a 16x16x30ish cage? I'm paranoid about him getting lost in the room, as there are many places I can't access to find him, and there are birds who would really object to him climbing their cages.
I never planned to free range him, but after watching Mort come out of his shell, I hate to limit him.

Thanks for listening...

when the mister goes off, Po goes crazy :) she lovesss it.
she sticks her face directly in the spraying water an drinks like that.

still hates me though.

today however she sat on my hand for 10 minutes, only trying to bite me a few times.

I found that putting my finger on her nose makes her stop trying to bite.
When she puffs up I also stroke underneath her little gullet thing, which makes it go away and seems to calm her.
