Thermometer gun

I do have one question at the moment, if anyone could help, we would greatly appreciate it. Which thermometer gun or whatnot would you guys say is the best? We have 2 thermometer/humidity readers in there now. One and the top and one at the bottom. Just would prefer the gun thingy. Lol.

So I would get one with the probe as well. Just for the basking spot. That way you know what the ambient temps are right below the heat bulb. The temp gun will give you higher temps because it pulls the surface temp only.

Sounds good, I’ll grab one in the morning. Thank you very much for your help!!!

Subjective question, but a lot of reptile keepers—including myself—have this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Las...1&keywords=etekcity+774&qid=1595598109&sr=8-3
However the price has jumped considerably. When I bought it less than a year ago, it was $16.
I suspect some gouging due to COVID-19. (It didn't used to say "Human")
I see one on eBay for $119.99 and that's BS. It's a $16 tool.

I have that one too. I didn’t get it for $16 ?. I assume it’s Chinese in origin. The entire supply of most things is down right now, which may make the price higher. $120 is not cool ?.
I have a friend that is a supervisor in a dispatch center for Union Pacific railroads and he says there is about 20-25% less rail traffic hauling goods in the US right now

I was thinking of getting the Fluke

I was thinking of getting the Fluke 62 max. Figured the better brand will work better but still getting temp/humidity gages with a probe. I have 2 already but the don’t have probes. Would like multiple kinds just to be safe that he is getting accurate temps/humidity.

This one for $100?

Do you think you need one that'll measure up to 500°C? Were you thinking of keeping him on Mercury (daytime temp 430°C)? Units with a more reasonable range are considerably less expensive with no loss in accuracy. For the money, at the current time, I think Beman's unit may be the better/best value. YMMV.

It's got a huge range too, but the price makes up for it since the ETEKCITY 774 has gone insane.

No, we definitely don’t need one that goes that high. No space travel is in our future, lmbo!! Just figured it would be more accurate. Thank you very much for the info!!!

Thermo gun does not seem to work properly at all. Going to have to send it back. Should of went with the one for space travel!! ?

How close are you getting with it and are you trying to shoot through the screen or glass?

Never used a temperature gun before but when we look at the little bit of direction it has and we try and test our temperature it doesn’t go over 92.

Most of these things can be calibrated/tested with water. Before sending it back, try boiling a pot of water, and aim it at the surface from about a foot away. If you don't get within a degree or so of 100C/212F, then it's definitely wonky. ;)

Not likely, but it could also be a low battery (they usually have a "low bat" indicator, but it's worth a shot).
