The Tongue

Does it only shoot in a straight line? My guy was perched about 8 inches above a cricket which was camped out underneath a leaf and he managed to stick his tongue right on it's head. It reminds me of that movie "Wanted" where Angelina Jolie curves bullets around walls.. Do these sort of 'magic' shots happen everyday?

Mine has done similar things and it did remind me of the movie wanted lol. Maybe its the way they move it whips it from straight to the side. Ha I can immagine bein the cham and everythings slows down then the tongue shoots out and curves around a vine or leaf to get a bug

Yeah, it's a straight line, but they are all magic shots because the tongue wraps around and sucks the prey to make sure it can't get away - then on the return to the mouth the weight of insect makes it whip round - it all happens so fast that it can appear to be even more impossible than it really is
