The last one... should I worry?

It's been a while since I made a post. I've been really busy and didn't have much time to lurk about on here. But I do have a question for you all, more opinions really (and I suppose a bit of a story).

When I got Marimo on my birthday (Beginning of December) I had 13 little babies to choose from. My husband and I looked at them all, and picked out one that seemed to be male. All were in perfect condition, so we didn't worry about that at all. For the next month, until December 29th, all was well. I got an SMS from my colleague, from whom we got Marimo, and it said that 2 of the babies had died. Apparently they just dropped over dead, nothing worth mentioning. Seems like they just gave up or whatever. After that I went on vacation to visit my family. When we got back somewhere mid January, I was told that only 2 chameleons remained (3 if you count Marimo), one in his care, and one that he gave to a friend. 2 days later, the one he had died, the other was still fine. Last week, the one that was with the other died, same thing, just dropped over...

Now should I worry that something might happen to Marimo randomly? He looks really fit, and when we took him in for a checkup and had a fecal done, nothing was wrong. But that still doesn't stop me from worrying a bit. He's the last one from the clutch, as all the others are now dead... I'm thinking that between the time I got him and the first ones started dying they may have got some infection or a parasite. Maybe I "saved" him from something that might have happened to him.

IIRC, the cage he had them in was dirty with poop, and they were kept together. I'm thinking this is what might have caused them to keel over.

I'm with you in thinking it may have been an infection that the others caught from each other or the environment. You very well may have saved him. Hope he stays healthy with you

I'm also thinking it was something husbandry related that probably caused them to die. As long as you are doing everything right and he looks good, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Still keep an eye on him though to play it safe.
