I have a 1.5 year old male super tran. Veiled chameleon. I moved across the country with all my reptiles, so that obviously was the first shock to him. He stopped eating for awhile but still did pick off a good number daily. Then every other day. I moved once again and since living in my permanent home since September, he has eaten less than 20 bugs. I have had to syringe feed him many times.
He has one eye that seals shut. This problem has been happening for months. I heal him within minutes with himalayan rock salt saline on the eyes and a vitamin/calcium/repashy paste. He literally has opened his eyes and acted alert instantly. But I can't overdose him with vitamins. And not to mention I want him to eat for himself. But whenever he returns to health, he still looks scared of the bugs and doesnt eat. Ive seen him pathetically spit out at a bug twice in the past 6 months. He seriously just won't do it.
So this is a constant battle, that I am losing. I understand what he needs, and know with more attention there is still the possibility of saving him
...
I just am wondering who has seen this/dealt with it? He is skinnyish but has good posture and no abnormalities. Ive purchased high end reptile lights and have a lot of chameleon experience.... but not with a chameleon I am desperately trying to keep alive, when he seems like he just wants to die );
I am at the point of choosing euthanasia as I see a suffering animal.
