Thank goodness for pad training

I would say the hardest one was the frilled lizards. They would only go where it was wet. So it started off with an over flow tray, then wet news paper, then pads on top of damp towels.

Unfortunately they dont respond to baby talk praise or treats...

But hey lets start a good poop thread :)

Here is 16lbs and 45" of tegu. Somehow he can make a piss circle that is twice as wide as a 7lb chihuahua. I didnt even know lizards could pee till lola...

I had an iguana that I trained to use a cat litter box. She knew I wouldn't let her out of the kitchen to roam until she used it.

How the F**K do you train a beardy to potty on a paper towel???????

You use beardy logic

beardy goes poop in warm bath
get beardy to almost insta go in shallow bath
get beardy to poop in tray in cage that has wet news paper or paper towels
At that point they should start pooping on puppy pads that are dry.

He kind of trained himself. I'm pretty diligent about cleaning up after him; I don't think it's ever been there over a half hour, and usually within 10 minutes. I pick up the mess, and spritz the spot w/ Nature's Miracle. It needs to sit for a few minutes to do its stuff, and animals aren't supposed to come in contact with it when wet, so I cover the spritz with a paper towel until it dries. I'm not as diligent about picking up the paper towel (since the mess & smell are gone by this point) and he began pooping on the towel the next day by himself. My SWAG is that maybe(?) he associated the smell of NM with his poop, and deposited it there again. BICBW.

I also saw a vid on YT that said to cover the enclosure floor w/ paper towel, and as he picks a spot, slowly reduce the amount of paper towel until it's down to one that they'll generally use. I never tried that, so IDK if there's anything to it or not.

But like I said, it's not perfect. He'll miss every once in a while, and when he does, it's usually someplace really difficult to clean... the little turd.
