IS on a 18-55?

Edit... you are right they do make it with the IS...

I was watching a vid that was talking about how the 18-55 doesn't have the IS... so... it must have been out of date.

Ya. I'm happy with how the pictures turned out for a 18-55.

18-55 IS. I think it is still a pretty decent lens.

yeah it gets good reviews from my reading. The 17-55 IS is close to $1000.... It doesn't have some of the issues that the 18-55 or 18-85 have... thats is why I was asking  I guess there is a big jump in quality and as you can see, price

I've been spending the weekend looking at craigslist and eBay for lenses and doing reading on each lens I see. Just trying to get an idea on what is worth the money

Are you looking only at Canon Lenses?

Yes, this is the 17-55mm IS F2.8 that I am talking about costing about $1000. It has an apiture of 2.8 through the entire zoom range. Where as the other two, yours and the 17-85mm change:

  • 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS $90-150
  • 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS $375-450
  • 17-55mm f/2.8 IS in the $900-1000 range

I did make the mistake above of calling the 17-85mm an 18-85mm my bad
