Terrariums...

I had read that terrariums aren't good for a chameleon, except a pygmy. Is there any other chameleon that will do okay in a terrarium? We just got a large one and I've always wanted a chameleon, but want it to have whatever enclosure is bet for it. I'm not a huge fan of the pygmy ones, at least the ones I've seen. I love the curly or longer tails I see on most chameleons and all the beautiful colors.

Iv had my panther in a exo terra terrarium for bout 4 months nd he was absolutely fine il show you some pics if I can find any

How big is it? Chameleons can do just fine in a glass cage if you do your research so that you can provide the proper care required with a glass cage. By terrarium you don't mean a glass tank like a fish tank though, right? Because that generally doesn't work so well. A terrarium like an exo terra is fine though.

Here's the catch. terrariums are cool and okay for chams. Air flow Is the issue. Terrsriums have lower vents to aid in that. A small fan pulling air through the lower vent like a computer fan really helps! Problem is.. chameleons require a lot of misting of alot of water! So draining the water is a pain. To much water left in there for too long can cause respritory infection. Also exo terra doesnt make a terrarium large enough for an adult veiled or panther. Or anything of that size..

They do make them large enough. They have some that are something like 36x18x36. With glass you don't need to mist as much so unless you are misting really heavily there generally shouldn't be an issue with drainage. Using a dripper mostly with a catch basin with one or two mistings a day shouldn't be an issue.

Your right. I said water removal was a pain. Which even with catches and drying it.up. still a pain compared to dumping.a bucket. And I'd really prefer if the company sprung for it and made a 36x18x48. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
