Temp gun

Ok so I have been noticing that all my chams hate my temp gun! I can put my hand, phone, camera, heck hut about anything next to them and they might scurry off. When I check there body temp or the basking spot next to them try freak, puff up start hissing and jumping at the temp gun like they want to rip it apart! Any ideas as to why this is? I have even went above them and tries to check with out them noticing a soon as I click the button they turn and freak. Is it possible the laser that reads the temp the chams can feel it?

I don't know if they can feel it, but if it bothers them, I would stop checking the chams and just check the area. See it that makes a difference. You could just take a break from checking with the temp gun for a while. You have a temp sensor in the cages correct? Just go off of that. I hate to stress mine unless it is very necessary. jmo

Is it an Infrared temp gun? If it is, they can see IR and it might just be very bright to them.

Holy crap didn't even think of that yes it is infrared, that's why they don't notice it until i push the button!!! I do have a temp probe in there cages a well but the females enclosure is like 6 feet tall so I like to spot check just cause I'm ocd about my temps and making sure I have a variant!
This is why this forum is the best place in the world so much knowledge on here!
