has anyone ever used them for basking lights or are they hurtfull to their eyes? i was thinking wold they let ot more heat or am i just like way off track? keep wandering also for those of us who use house bulbs ever used the clear ones i only use soft white ones becase i dont know any different.

I use PAR20 50w Flood lamps from Home Depot. They are the Philips brand. They are also the 'long neck' type. I use these on all of my cages except one free range... and in that free range I use a PAR30 75w Flood.

i use flood lights for my two 8 month old and i'm using a regular house light blub (not the clear kind) for my 5 month old.

I use normal household lamps on baby cages because you can buy them in lower wattage and you don't want a focused heat point for them. it's better to have a warm part of the cage, and a cooler par. plus there are more chams to warm in a baby cage so a wider spread of heat is better than one area where the chams have to climb on one another. plus young chams will climb on the tops of cages a lot and if the lamp is a focused beam, even if it's a flood lamp, they'll burn.

ok i said babys but maybe i ment younger chams its ok though i see what your saying when would u switch to a flood?

What summoner said...the flood lights are much warmer and temps are too high for my younger Cham.
