I was wondering what is the best size for a tall tank? I saw 30 minium after they are 10 months. I was wondering what is the VERY best size? Is 40 gallons good?

Hi and welcome. What type of chameleon and sex. The reccomended minimum size for an adult is 2x2x4 inches but bigger is better. Imo a young chameleon can go into his/ her adult enclosure, I personally would use a feeder cup for 2 reasons, to make sure your cham has constant access to food that they can find easily and also for you to keep track of amounts eaten. Why gallons ? I would associate gallons with like fish tanks which would not be suitable for a chameleon?

I do not have a Chameleon right now so, I am doing research. I am thinking of a veiled chameleon.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on getting a tank, I am going for a screen enclosure. I guess I am used to tanks. I didn't realize there was a difference, I'm sorry.
Gotcha yeah so your looking at needing a 2ft x2ftx 4 ft tall enclosure. Depending on environment and the ambient humidity where you live sometimes a hybrid style is better then full screen.

That said, the minimum recommended size for an adult chameleon is 24" x 24" x 48"H, which comes out to 120 gallons (3 X 40 gallons), however several mfrs. are moving toward larger (double-wide) 48" x 24" x 48"H, and depending on the climate where you live, hybrid rather than all-screen enclosures.
If the average Relative Humidity (RH) where you live is high/humid (e.g. FL and other coastal regions) then an all-screen enclosure should do. For most other (temperate) regions (e.g. most of the rest of the US & Canada), temperatures and RH are MUCH easier to achieve, control, and maintain with hybrid enclosures. Building (DIY) an enclosure is also an option. Many build from scratch—others convert/repurpose a cabinet, and still others have enclosures custom built.
