We have a 5 month old Panther Chameleon who is very friendly as soon as you go to the cage he is trying to climb onto your Hand . After reading about them it mostly says they are not really good at being handled more to look at , but this one loves to be out , is this ok to keep allowing him out of his cage to move around the room or climb on you?

If he likes it then there is nothing wrong with you handling him. I have always handled mine on a daily basis and they are friendly. Many other members interact with theirs also as pets and not just something to look at.

My boy comes to me when I say "hey buddy" in a sweet voice. I've tried it from a few angles around the cage so he seems to recognize something about me or my voice. Once he gets to the door then he claws at it until I open it or I walk away.

I generally hold him a few minutes and we either go to the patio and bask or stand in front of the door for the nice breeze. Once I get my stand finished up I'll create a small free range next to the cage so he can chill outside the cage longer while I am home.

He always initiates contact, that's how we roll.

Chameleons can't hear ^^

Actually, its more accurate to say they can't hear sound in the frequency range of the human voice. They can "feel" low frequency vibrational noise such as thumping, heavy bass music, etc.

Your cham isn't reacting to your voice, he's reacting to your presence and has probably learned that when you show up you'll offer him food or let him out of his cage.
