my couple month old veilds tail is turning differant colors...at the end where she laches on to things, its like black and grey,is this normal or is it a bruise, please help me.

I think it would be really helpful if you could fill out the "how to ask for help" form at the top of this forum. Just copy it, paste it into a reply and fill in your information. I also think a picture would be very helpful.

Also, does it go back to "normal" when she's not wrapping her tail around something?
And, when this happens, is she wrapping her tail around something higher up in the cage? I don't know about veileds, but my Fischers' will actually hang from their tails at times.

i just noticed it today, she hasnt used her tail since ive noticed it which makes me belive she injured it hanging from something.

Well...again, I'm not a veiled person, but I know mine hang from their tails with no problem...I've seen one of them sleep that way. Their tails are built for that. Veileds are heavier, so maybe it's not a common thing for them to do...but I just find that unlikely as a scenario.

My quick guess would be her tail was up too close to the heat source and got burned, but that's a really wild guess and shouldn't be acted on.

Filling out the "how to ask for help" form and snapping a couple of pictures would go a long way toward letting the experts that are here (not me) tell you what it looks like to them.

Can you post a picture? Any chance that it got caught in the cage door when you shut it? Is it hard or still soft like it should be?

she never is near the door she is very sggresive i havent even touched her but one time so i dont know how i will be able to find that out.

Can you get a stick (it can be man made or off a tree) and offer it to her as something to walk up onto? They tend to climb up. If you can put the branch in front of her, maybe bumping her chest a bit...she might step up onto it. Pssh is expert at this, hopefully she'll see this thread.

Even if you know for a fact that she couldn't have caught it in the door, that doesn't mean it's not a bruise or injury. She might have lost her grip, fallen and done a "tail save"... So, the "hard/soft" question is important.

is it possible for it to be some sort of an infection from something....there wasnt any cut or anything before hand so i dont know exactly what it could be but it looks like its turning to sort of an ash like substance at the tip.

Lots of stuff is possible. I strongly suggest you make an appointment with a vet as early as possible Monday morning.

Meanwhile, if you want thoughts from people here, the information in the "how to ask for help" form and some pictures would be needed. People can speculate all day, but then see the actual thing and go "oh...well...it's not what I thought at all, it's THIS..."..

Can't you take a picture of her in the cage? Open the door so the camera doesn't have to figure the screen out and see what you can get... Almost anything will be helpful.

im sorry my camera decided to not work, i cant get a pic today. but pictuer what a cigarete looks like when its ashes r dumped into an ashtray if that helps.its about a fourth of an inch long from the tip of her tail.

idk for sure because you don't have a picture, but my guess would be that her tail is dead. Tail necrosis is seen in chams that aren't getting enough vitamin A. Again this is just a guess because you don't have any pictures up.

tail injury

my little guy, (6 month old nosey be) got the end of his tail caught in his cage door. anyway, there was a bit of discoloration this morning which seems to be lightening up now about 6 hours later. there has been very little change in his behavior and he does seem to be eating. however, when he curls his tail to sleep the tiny part at the end doesn't fully curl and sticks out a bit.

earlier i soaked his tail in warm water and put some antibacterial ointment on it. other than that i am at a loss. any advice or suggestions?

Keep an eye on it, it may just have bruised/broken. But if it darkens I would get him to a vet. My panther broke his tail about two-thirds down and the tip turned black. It had to be amputated because the blood flow had clearly died. So keep an eye on it, as long as the color doesn't go towards dark/black he will probably be fine but may not be able to bend the tip again if the bone is broken.

Good luck!
