T5 lighting?

I'm considering switching from a T8 UVB fixture to a T5 one. The fixture sits above the mesh on top of my panther chameleon's enclosure, and I've seen other people mention that the screen filters out some of the UVB lighting, so T5 lights are better to use.

Would a T5 UVB be too strong? I know they are stronger in general, but if I'm placing it on the outside of the screen would it still be a problem?

If I remember correctly, they are like 15 stronger... maybe 20%. I would personally use the T8 until it breaks or I found a better use for it.

I'm actually planning on a leopard gecko terrarium build for this summer, and I'll be switching the T8 fixture into that instead! It's actually a little shorter than 24", and since my chameleon is in a 24x24x48 he'll be getting a new fixture either way.

I believe the t5 is stronger because it is made with thinner glass then the t8. T5 would not be to strong. I have heard that 15 mins in the natural sunlight is equal to 12 hours under a t5 bulb. So they are not getting nearly as much exposure as they would outside. As long as you have places for them to get away from the uvb light they should be fine.
