Super Duper Sticky Tongue

Okay, the baby melleri is doing great except........his tongue is so sticky and sticks to everything. It gets stuck to the feeder bowl, limbs, my fingers when hand feeding. I'm afraid he is going to pull it out. What is going on with that?

I dunno, maybe he's still getting to grips with it and learning how to use it?! With my chams, Amy is more of a hotshot with her tongue than Tommy, lol!

Is he missing alot when shooting at prey? Or is he just at that clumsy stage of development where they act like a teen growing into their body?

He does miss some and is so gentle when he shoots, like he doesn't want to hurt the feeder. He doesn't shoot and pop the prey and he misses. Maybe because he's had his tongue stuck a few times, makes him leary. Chams1 posted on the other thread about dehydration, but his urates are snow white. Thinking along those lines though, he doesn't drink before he eats so he must have that morning dry mouth thing going on. I'll make sure he wets his whistle before I feed him tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks!

I have a routine where I let mine bask for 15-20 min after lites on. Then I mist everyone. I give em another 15 mins to drink while i eat. Then everyone gets fed. Ive found if I feed before I spray that my chams tend to skip drinking in the A.M. So I started misting first. Since then most of mine drink at every misting.

Agreed. The lights are always on for a half-hour or so before everyone gets misted then another half hour or so after before they get any food. I have found this (or TPM's way) to work well.

I do about the same, lights on for 15-20, then start drips and mist 10-15 min later (misting only about a min or two to get everyon'e's lips smacking) and feed. I see Arley's swallowing start when I mist and then he has his drip . I'll just get Arley up a little earlier.

Mucous membranes harden and thicken with vitamin A deficiency, has he been getting enough beta carotene?
