Substrate in large DS atrium

I was going to just dump a thin ~1" layer soil on the bottom with leaf litter. Any foreseeable problems with this? I was wondering if maybe this would degrade the aluminum frame over time.

I feel bill has a good design going, I haven't seen one in person, but what is your opinion?

Oh excellent... No doubt. I'd like to build something cat proof down the road though.

Yeah...... I could imagine that being tougher than waterproofing.
