Same here and I didn’t know you could find them on the Canary Islands. It’s sounds a bit the same as with iguana’s, it’s been said they carry salmonella as well.

A lot of reptiles carry salmonella. Turtles And tortoises too.

In all the tests that were done with any of my reptiles or tortoises, only once did salmonella ever show up…and believe me, I had a lot tested over the years.
