(MORE PHOTOS BELOW) Meet Velázquez (veh-LAS-kez). This guy has great color and a beautiful bar pattern. Also his casque is so tall it almost doesn't look real. Velázquez is spunky and in perfect health and eating full size crickets, dubias, butterworms. He is very shy but does not gape or try to bite or even swing his head threateningly. He hates the camera, just like other Veileds. (The only veiled cham we ever had that liked to pose for the camera was Botero, but, then, he was extremely vain
.)Vel is very gentle with the ladies, and has a full and hearty appreciation for his responsibilities as a breeder. And, of course, the ladies take one look at his huge casque and instantly fall in love. He has been breeding for a couple months now. We would prefer that he go to someone who will breed him. He has no interest in taking a vow of celibacy.
He is still growing. He recently achieved 120grams and measures 15 inches overall. He hasn't begun his adult "filling out" period, during which he will beef up a bit, so we anticipate his weight, and his length, to continue to increase over the next 6-12 months.
Velázquez is a great guy, but (in case you haven't noticed) we are thinning out our breeder population in preparation for new arrivals of other chameleon species.
