strange behavior. need help!

ok so i did a thread on this a while back and didnt get any helpful responses.
so i would GREATLY appreciate it if somebody could help.
heres the thread. https://www.chameleonforums.com/tongue-looks-strange-wierd-help-44008/

so sometimes my chameleon will be eating. he sometimes does this while i mist him. hes been doing while i mist him lately. but sometimes while he is eating or getting misted, he will lean his head up, and sticks his whole tongue out and opens his mouth really wide. he also kind of hisses while he does it.
after a couple of seconds, he puts his tongue back in his mouth.
sorry i dont have any pics.

i really want to know if this is lack of vit. A. i just started giving it to him a couple weeks ago and maybe it hasnt really kicked in yet.

all of my husbandry is correct except for that /\ above.

just in case you want to know my husbandry, here it is.

male, veiled chameleon, 11 months old.
i dont handle my chameleon that often.
i feed him crickets, the occasional superworm or hornworm.
i supplement him with calcium, calcium with d3, and started using vit A a couple weeks ago.
fecal description- his poops are brown / black-ish. urates are usually white.

he has a screen cage. 18x18x36
he has a 60w house bulb and a reptiglo 5.0 uvb light.
the temps are about 85 degrees, about 65-75 degrees at night.
humidity- about 50%
no live plants
i am in valpo, indiana

:)

Hey dude
I have similar cage but mine is 24x24x36 my temps are similar to yours but it sounds possible that your humidity is bit low, try raising it to 65 - 70 and see, your Cham could be dehydrated but everything else seems fine, do you have a dripper?

No experience with...

Sorry I'd love to help but have zero experience with what you are describing so I've not a clue why he would be doing that? Hopefully someone will be able to chime and and give a clue...

My cham did that when she had her URI, not saying that he has one, just syaing she did it because she couldnt breath well.

You should take him in for a check up at a experienced chameleon vet office.
You also should be very careful about the vit A it can lead to some nasty health issues.
