hmmmm- anyone have any idea how long a Jax X is receptive? the info I can find on line suggest about 4/5 day, every 21 or so - my girls wont seem to " turn off" , they have been breeding for about 4 weeks - the male is proven daddy , so no blanks - I hate to remove the male, as they all live together-and I try to keep them as natural as possible ( covered in another post ;) ) they are getting ready to move out for the summer, and now I am not so sure I should move him too - why are these girls still receptive? any advice or help much appreciated :) thanks gang

If you don't want them to breed there's really one easy way to fix that ;)

its not that I don't WANT them to, its how long they have been - none of my chams follow "the book" - I just am wondering why they are still breeding after such a long time - and if anyone else has/had a female stay receptive for so long- if it were only one of them - I would just think - hmm , that odd- but its both ??? lol

Conditions

Conditions must be optimal for breeding in their enclosure. Female panthers are the same when kept in certain conditions. Be careful though they literally can be bred to death by pumping out so many babies and not having sufficient time to recover..

I plan to not feed them so heavy this summer- I think that is part of what caused my huge slug issue - I fed Olive, plus she was an EXPERT at catching anything that got near her f/r - she could pick yellow jackets right out of the air, and the poor stupid mantis- did not stand a chance - I have changed the outer covering so this year, only tiny things can get in, and she can not shoot out of it - she will be MAD- lol - but the more pics I see of wild chams - panthers too- I hate to admit it - but my chams are VERY fat ! - I have been trying to research alot, but its very hard to find info on this - I dont want to do the "wrong" thing- but I also kinda want to let them be - there is more than enough room for them to get away if they chose- I have not seen any more breeding w/ Olive- he is refusing her - she all but scoots under him , and he just sits there - lol - yet he still breeds Sneaks, she is much younger, I almost wonder if somehow he knows she is the better "chance" for reproducing ? - but even that is slowing down- I dont know if its just that ppl do not do this, or its just that no one speaks of it ? I know some frown on keeping them this way - and I also know some who do- but dont say so- it is very different when they are kept this way - I have NEVER seen any stress at all - they are much more content - move as a group- today they moved into the outdoor f/r - I will be interested to see if they still stay as a group now- or separate - anyway - maybe someday all this will help someone ~ I just know when I had them separate, and in screen cages, they all seemed "tense" - non stop cage climbing ( drove me NUTS ) now, they have never looked better :)
