Sterile/Desexed Cham in Australia?

Hi,

Firstly, I have googled chams in oz and also seen this cham post already posted.... https://www.chameleonforums.com/chameleons-australia-44763/

I'm wondering if i would be allowed to import a sterile/desexed cham to australia. Assuming i applied specifically for it on these grounds, if approved, go thru quarantine of course etc. If it's cleared for diseases and stuff and it's sterile/desexed as verified by customs and/or 1+ more vets/authorities... should this be so impossible to get cleared?

Is there anything i haven't thought of?

Any comments on topic very welcome, but please read the whole post first, thanks guys.

I think it depends on where you live. Some places there are more and less restrictive. I have some australian books on bearded dragons, water dragons and blue tongue skinks. You have to keep natives- no imports, and you have to be licensed usually and you can't keep just anything. From the books, the husbandry looks way behind husbandry in the US.

It's a cool place, but as a herpetoculturist, I'm glad I don't live there.

I'm not really sure why anyone would want anything to go through customs. :(

I personally would be fine with the natives, though I do see where it would get boring after so long.

Well-

If your interest is chameleons you are out of luck if you are an Australian, for example.

And if the list of allowed natives with a permit in your area happens to be limited to blue tongue skinks, water dragons and bearded dragons, you might find that a little limiting...

From what I have heard anything exotic is illegal, it is more strict in Australia than S.A! Though in Australia it is legal to keep certain indegenous reptiles such as bearded dragons.
