standing in soil of plants

Hey, so my 3.5 month old panther seems to go down to the bottom of the cage in the morning and evnings, and stands in the soil of my plants, or on the rim of the pot, and just picks off crickets off the ground like there is no tomrorow. Is it normal for them to go down that low in the cage, or to stand in the soil?

I don't suppose there is anything wrong if he is hunting down there (where all the food is). It would be a problem if he was going down there and laying down or something though.

Hi Dan.........Your little one (the piggy little male I assume) will go where the food is. At first they don't realize that crickets will go down to the bottom of the cage or at the base of plants. Eventually they figure this out. His siblings (Dan has one of my baby Ambilobes) are all doing the same thing at my house. I put smooth decorative rocks (about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in size) over the dirt in the pot so they don't pick up soil or that white stuff they put in it when they pick off the crickets. The fact that your panther is eating anything he can find is a good thing.
