Cleaned Smeagie's cage today and used a 12% 16oz bottle of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) diluted with some water (about 2 parts H2O2 and 1 of water)
in a spray bottle (waring rubber gloves is a MUST).
I used the whole bottle and sprayed it down really well.
Some of the vines and branches foamed up on contact with the solution.
I didnt need to move the cage, but the back and left side (XL Reptibreeze) are covered with thick clear plastic.
I let it sit for a few minutes, then used my pump sprayer to rinse everything down, using hot tap water, and letting it drain into a bucket.
I used at least 6 liters of hot water and my collection bucket, which was hoplessly stained and funky looking, turned out super clean and spotless, like brand new!!
I thought "wow! this is potent stuff!!'
I have 2 floor size fans on it now to dry it completely.
Smeagol is allowed to stay out on the free range on weekends, so he wont go back home untill all is evaporated and dry.
I did remove some cheesey plastic vines which I never liked anyway, otherwise, this was the easiest and most painless cleaning job ever!!
Does anyone else use peroxide? It disipates compleatly w/o any odor or harmful traces, and no self-respecting germ would be able to survive this nasty stuff
Do be very careful if you use it this concentrated though.
Ware gloves, safety glasses, and a long sleeve shirt.
