Hey guys, this is my first post and my first veiled chameleon but not my first reptile. I noticed the other day that my chameleon while in her basking spot was opening her mouth after research I found that spot was too hot.. I moved the lights further away and solved that problem however I noticed this spot on her back today.. it almost looks like tree sap or a cut.. I am afraid she may have gotten a burn when the light was hot I am going to take her to the vet Monday but wondered if there is anything I can do in the mean time.

Hi there. Yes that is a thermal burn. When you take her to the vet get silver sulfadiazine cream for it. In the mean time you can put regular neosporin on it. But it needs to be the kind without the pain med in it. So just regular neosporin and gently apply with a qtip all along that area.

Should you want to do a help form for us to review your husbandry let us know and we can post that for you to fill out.

Thank you! I just put some ointment on her ( she was not happy) and yes I would love to review husbandry. Let me know what I need to do. she is my first but other than the burn seems healthy and happy.. good color.. great appetite.. relatively friendly (other than putting the ointment on)
